First Approval

I've been waiting for weeks since I applied online to be a student missionary. The nerves were starting to come back, but I had been told that the process took a long time. My biggest worry was that I hadn't finished the application properly and the process hadn't even started.

While I waited, I've been researching about Nicaragua, looking up facts about the country. It's a fascinating place, with a fresh water lake full of sharks. I'm not especially fond of sharks, so I think I'll stay away from that. The beach would probably be lovely, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was full of bloodsucking creatures too. Nicaragua also has some of the best coffee in Central/South America. I'm saying a prayer, and frankly, a very earnest prayer, that I'll be able to consume this coffee in copious amounts while I'm away, but I'm doubtful. Being Adventist, there's an aversion to coffee and caffeinated teas, but not chocolate. It's one of life's greatest mysteries.

I finally got the email from my university saying that I am approved by them to be a student missionary. Now they're sending it to the various levels of Conferences and Divisions and random people sitting behind office desks who don't know me, but who get to say whether or not I go. In the mean time, I will be traveling to Italy and Greece, studying art and beauty. Then I'll dive back into another summer at camp, teaching small children how to ride horses; actually, I'll mostly be teaching myself patience and how to fake a smile when they cry over the fact that horses poop.

I'm getting so pumped, but I have remind myself - this is just the first approval.
